Armor Set Decision Guide: Scarabastion or Quincy

Compare two observed armor effects, their activation conditions and the displayed crafting costs before choosing.

Quick answer

Scarabastion’s tooltip protects against the first Boss hit. Quincy, the Smart Coat instead gives +20% damage while health is above 80%. Choose by the condition you need, then check the cost: the recorded 4,031 gold is below either shown 5,000-gold requirement.

Reach the comparison at Andrei’s forge

The recording speaks to Andrei and chooses Craft Weapons. The Blacksmith menu then shows an Armors tab, with separate Dimensions and Quests groups. The two readable Dimensions entries are Scarabastion and Quincy, the Smart Coat.

  1. Interact with Andrei at the forge and choose Craft Weapons.
  2. Switch to the Armors tab if the weapon grid is showing.
  3. Select a readable armor tile and compare its effect with the next available entry.
  4. Read the cost and your holdings before using Craft (Hold).

Scarabastion: first-hit protection against a Boss

The tooltip says the first time a Boss hits you deals no damage. The displayed count is one. This is a specific Boss condition, not a statement that the first hit in every ordinary room is free.

Consider this option when protection against that initial Boss hit matters more to your plan than a health-dependent damage bonus. The recording reads the tooltip; it does not test a hit or establish any reset rule beyond the displayed wording.

Quincy: damage while health stays above the threshold

Quincy, the Smart Coat displays +20% damage while health is above 80%. Read “above” as the stated condition: an exactly 80% reading does not satisfy that wording.

Consider Quincy if you expect to preserve that health condition. Do not count the bonus as permanently active after taking damage. The footage here does not measure dealt damage or compare kill times.

Check affordability before committing

Both selected recipes show a cost of 5,000 gold plus one material. The material icons differ, so the two requirements must not be treated as the same item. The selected Scarabastion view shows five of its material held; the Quincy view shows two of its own material.

The wallet is 4,031 gold in both views. The difference to 5,000 is 969 gold, so this recorded wallet does not yet cover either recipe’s coin cost. Enough of the displayed material alone does not cover the missing money.

The selection outline identifies the recipe being inspected; it is not an equipped-state confirmation. No successful armor craft or equip is shown in this comparison. Keep your current equipment record until the game actually confirms a change.

Keep the comparison tied to the recorded options
